Choosing a Colorway : 3 ways to boost curb appeal

Take a look around : Setting/Landscaping

When selecting a color for an exterior painting service, it is wise to look around the neighborhood and take a "mental inventory" of the colors of the other residences and or structures within "eyeshot" of your home. This is done in order to avoid similar color schemes and increase the individuality of your exterior painting project, as well as to gain ideas that will hopefully narrow down the overall color schemes that you may have had in mind. Be aware of colors that you like when you're taking a walk by other exterior paint jobs and don't be afraid to ask! Most clients love it when they are asked about their chosen color, as it lets them know that they have made a good choice. Plus, maybe their accent color is what you would like for your siding color, and our next steps can help you with the trim and accent colors once the siding color is chosen!

Don't forget pre-arranged color pallets

An important thing to remember is resources! Many paint suppliers carry pre-arranged color palettes. These are ready-made color palettes that were put together by designers and color consultants that are guaranteed to work well together and also to achieve specific colorways to match your individual tastes. I have had the best luck with pre-arranged palettes when our clients have narrowed down a basic idea of their siding color, whether that is soft blue, vivid blue, red, brown, white, etc. I will then take the siding swatches that they have chosen and find the "nearest match" to a pre-arranged palette and ask if they'd like the extra sample to be made in order to test in various lighting conditions, as this affects color in ways only one can imagine.

Having a "Backup strategy"

The main function of Exterior Painting services is to protect the client's investment in their property. Although I completely agree with the sentiment that the colors should be perfect and the individual taste of the client should be represented once the painting services are complete. Any siding color will look great with white gutters and trim. This is always good to keep in the back of your mind as your "job startup" is approaching. At Cornerstone Brushworks we understand that our clients want the colors correct once we provide painting services, and we give them the space to make this decision up to the day before the purchase of the siding materials or even up to the front door color is to be applied. But many of our competitors do not. Thus, having a simple colorway that is more or less "traditional" is not a bad idea, as choosing what your home will look like for the next 10 years can be nerve-racking.
